Expensive Wine Bottle

A 300-year-old wine bottle was sold for £10,000  more than it was expected to fetch at auction recently.

The empty, green glass bottle, which dates back to 1697, had been tipped for sale at between £400 and £600  at Bonham's Auctioneers in Edinburgh. But after two minutes of frenzied bidding by collectors across the country, the onion-shaped bottle was finally sold to a man in England for £10,340.

Bonham's spokeswoman Patricia Hess admitted no one had expected the bottle to fetch such a huge amount.
