Expensive Wine Bottle

A 300-year-old wine bottle was sold for 10,000  more than it was expected to fetch at auction recently.

The empty, green glass bottle, which dates back to 1697, had been tipped for sale at between 400 and 600  at Bonham's Auctioneers in Edinburgh. But after two minutes of frenzied bidding by collectors across the country, the onion-shaped bottle was finally sold to a man in England for 10,340.

Bonham's spokeswoman Patricia Hess admitted no one had expected the bottle to fetch such a huge amount.
