Australia Joins Ranks of
Worlds Biggest Wine Exporters
With almost A$2 billion (US$1.05 billion)
in overseas wine sales in 2001, Australia has become the world's biggest
wine exporter outside the European Union.
Exports of Australian wine have grown
more than sixfold since 1992 to A$1.9 billion in 2001, according to
the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The country's major wine
destinations were the United Kingdom and the United States in 2001.
Canada, New Zealand, Germany and Ireland werethe country's other major
wine markets.
